With a 3-2 victory against the Missouri Mavericks and a regulation loss by the Bloomington Blaze, the Allen Americans became the first team to qualify for the 2013 President’s Cup Playoffs Saturday night.
Wichita narrowed Fort Worth’s lead for second place to one point heading into action on Sunday. Fort Worth plays in Quad City, while Wichita hosts Missouri. The Thunder and Brahmas will meet in a game that could decide 2nd place on Wednesday night at the NYTEX Sports Centre.
Further down the standings, the race for the seventh and eighth playoff seeds tightened dramatically. Both Arizona and Bloomington lost in regulation Saturday night and the Quad City Mallards have a golden opportunity to jump into seventh place with a win on Sunday.
